Pizza Peel Class - March 28-29, 2025

Pizza Peel Class - March 28-29, 2025
There is nothing like making pizza at home. Whether you’re going to bake it in the oven, on a grill, or in an outdoor pizza oven, you’ll need a tool for loading and unloading your delicious pie.
By the end of class, you will have created a beautiful pizza peel for your home or to give as a gift. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of woodworking as well as some more advanced techniques.
FRIDAY NIGHT Session - 6-9PM
Friday night will cover the basics of milling rough lumber into square smooth stock. Students will learn how to use a jointer to make a board flat, a planer to make a board an even thickness and a table saw to rip stock into strips.
Students will then organize their strips into a design and glue their peel blank together.
SATURDAY MORNING Session - 9AM-12:30PM
Saturday morning will be all about turning your blank into a peel. We’ll scrape glue residue, plane flat, and drum sand smooth. We’ll use a template to trace an outline of the final shape. We’ll then use a bandsaw to cut out the rough shape of a peel. Templates will be attached with double-sided tape and used as a guide for template routing. We’ll end with finish sanding and applying some board butter, our cutting board finish.
